Affiliations for VPN Access

According to the SSO Role-Application Matrix, the VPN is denied to retirees and former employees but can be overridden if they have an affiliation that allows access.  Users with other affiliations, that are not included on the list below, will need to request VPN access via an IT Resource Request.

Here are the affiliations that are automatically allowed VPN access:

  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Student Worker
Note: Current Students by default have VPN access, this will change in the future to limit to those truly need access based on courses.

The following affiliations are not automatically allowed VPN access (requires to be sponsored and requested through IT Resource Request):

  • Customer
  • Guest
  • Contract Grant
  • Non-Traditional Student
