Personal Webpage Responsibility Agreement

Context

In order to publish or maintain a personal web page, in addition to the technical requirements laid out in Article - How to Setup Your Home Page..., each user will have to confirm acceptance of personal responsibility for the compliance and upkeep of the personal webpage by submitting acceptance of the following agreement, available through Microsoft Forms.

Agreement Scope

This agreement applies to all faculty, staff, and students who create and manage personal webpages on the University of Texas at Dallas network or using its resources.
Agreement

Content Responsibility

  • Users are solely responsible for the content they publish on their personal webpages. This includes ensuring that the information is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant.
  • Users must not publish any content that is illegal, offensive, or violates University of Texas at Dallas policies, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, and intellectual property rights.

Accessibility

  • Users must ensure that their personal webpages are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. This includes adhering to web accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Users should provide alternative text for images, ensure that their webpages are navigable using keyboard-only navigation, and use appropriate color contrasts.

Privacy and Security

  • Users must protect the privacy of individuals by not disclosing personal information without consent.
  • Users should implement security measures to protect their webpages from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

Compliance

  • Users must comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and company or institution policies when creating and maintaining their personal webpages.
  • The University of Texas at Dallas reserves the right to review and remove any content that violates this agreement or any applicable laws and regulations.

Accountability

  • Users are accountable for any consequences resulting from the content they publish on their personal webpages.
  • Users should regularly review and update their webpages to ensure ongoing compliance with this agreement.

Enforcement

Failure to comply with this agreement will result in the removal of the personal webpage.

Review

This agreement will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure continued relevance and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
