How to Access Live Transcriptions in a Teams meeting

  • Live transcriptions can make your meeting more productive and inclusive for participants who are deaf, hard of hearing or have different levels of language proficiency, with captions for your video files in Stream on SharePoint.
  • Participants attending the teams meeting in a noisy environment will also appreciate the visual aid provided by the live transcriptions.
  • The text in live transcriptions appears alongside the meeting video or audio in real-time and a time stamp.

How to Manage Live Transcriptions

Start Live Transcription

  1. During your meeting, go to the meeting controls at the top of your meeting screen.
  2. Select the More button.

           

  1. Go to Record and transcribe > and click on Start Transcriptions.

         

  1. You will now have the option to select the language in which you would like the transcriptions to be in from the drop-down.

 Note: There are 34 different languages for transcription: Arabic (Saudi Arabia), Arabic (United Arab Emirates), Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (Mandarin), Danish (Denmark), Dutch (Belgium), Dutch (Netherlands), English (Australia), English (Canada), English (India), English (New, Zealand), English (United Kingdom), English (United States), Finnish (Finland), French (Canada), French (France), German (Germany), Hindi (India), Italian (Italy), Japanese (Japan), Korean (Korea), Norwegian (Norway), Polish (Poland), Portuguese (Brazil), Russia (Russia), Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Swedish (Sweden).
  1. After selecting the language as per your requirement, you can now click on Confirm at the bottom.

  2. All the participants will now see a notification that the meeting is being transcribed. The transcript appears on the right side of your screen.

           

Stop Live Transcription

  1. During your meeting where the transcriptions are started, go to the meeting controls at the top of your meeting screen.
  2. Select the More button.

           

  1. Go to Record and transcribe > and the Stop transcription option.

           

Note: The transcription stops automatically when all participants leave the meeting.
