Context
Microsoft Teams Room Pro for EDU licensing is a change for existing conference rooms that have Teams conferencing hardware. Teams Pro is a paid model offered by Microsoft to enhance Teams personal meetings with advanced hardware and management of the hardware for conference rooms. This impacts all Android and Windows-based conferencing hardware. As they continue to develop new innovations, new features, and options, they will be coming to the Pro license.
Signing in with a user account on Teams Conferencing will not be supported after July 1, 2023.
Teams Rooms Pro simplifies both hybrid meeting experiences and device management.
- Intelligent audio and video: To help everyone be seen and heard, Microsoft is combining high-quality audio and video from Teams-certified devices with video layout options like front row, noise suppression, and bandwidth optimization. Advanced camera capabilities use AI to help remote attendees feel like they are in the room with automatic framing to capture the active speaker.
- Increased engagement: Beyond audio and video, one of the best ways for remote participants to establish their presence in a meeting is to engage with ease. Teams Rooms Pro includes popular features from Teams meetings like wirelessly sharing content, raise hand, and live reactions. And when using the classic video grid layout, chat bubbles alert in-room participants to the conversation happening alongside the meeting, so nothing gets missed.
- Management and security: Teams Rooms Pro provides essential enterprise-grade management and security, including access control, remote configuration, and device analytics, as well as IT service management (ITSM) integration.
- Ease of Use: Rather than using a person account, room resource accounts will be created and the stay logged in. Using a licensed room resource account makes the reservation of the room part of the process of the meetings creation, just invite it.

- Departments request quotes based on the number of licenses. After departmental approval and purchase, the license will be managed by OIT.
