Error Adding Shared Mailbox: "The Name Cannot Be Matched to a Name in the Address Book."

Explanation

The error message "The name cannot be resolved. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address book." may appear when attempting to add a shared mailbox in the Microsoft Outlook desktop application.

Microsoft Outlook Error Message: "The name cannot be resolved. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address book."

Procedure 

  • Navigate to the Microsoft Outlook service in Atlas.
  • Submit a Service Request under "General Help/Request".
  • Note the shared mailbox you are attempting to access and any other errors that appear.
  • If possible, include screenshots of the error.
  • Press Request.

Our technical teams will have to change the email configuration to resolve this issue. You may access the shared calendar in the Microsoft Outlook web app as a work around.
