Using New Teams

Note: New teams requires Windows 10 version 10.0.19041 or higher or macOS Monterey (12) or higher.
  1. Open the Teams desktop app on your Windows device. 
  2. Turn on the Try the new Teams  toggle at the top left hand side.

  1. Select Get it now from the pop-out dialogue.
    • The new Teams will start installing.

Option to start installing new Teams.

  1. Your Teams app will reboot to open the new Teams. Any subsequent actions you take will happen in the new Teams by default, like joining a Teams meeting from Outlook.
  • When in the new Teams, turn on (or off) notifications by selecting Settings and the More options icon ​​​​​at the top of the new Teams.
  • Then, selecting Settings > Notifications > Open Windows notifications settings. Find Microsoft Teams (work preview) in the apps list and set your preference.

Switching Between Teams

  • To switch back to the classic Teams, select the More options icon (...) at the top of Teams.
  • From Settings deselect the toggle for New Teams .

Note: When you switch between the new and classic Teams, the version you’re currently using will close and the one you’re switching to will automatically open and become your default version. 

Pin New Teams to Taskbar

  • From the Start Windows logo Start button menu or apps list, press and hold (or right-click) an app.
  • Then select More Pin to taskbar Pin-shaped Pin icon.

Sign out of New Teams

  • Locate the Microsoft Teams application.
  • Go to the top-right corner & click your profile picture/ initials.
  • Select “Sign Out” from the drop-down menu.
