Enable Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN (macOS)

Enabling GlobalProtect

After installing the application, enable Palo Alto Networks as a trusted developer in order to connect.

  • Launch System Settings from your Mac.
  • Select General > Login Items.
  • Find "Palo Alto Networks" in the list of items available. Move the tongle to allow PaloAlto to make changes and modify preferences.
    • If prompted, enter your Mac User Name and Password, and then Unlock the preferences.

  • If not done so during the installation process, a pop-up will appear asking "GlobalProtect would like to Filter Network Content" when connecting.
    • Select Allow

Connecting to Global Protect

  • Open the GlobalProtect VPN client on your machine, enter the Portal Address as utdvpn.utdallas.edu > Connect.
    • GlobalProtect will take a few seconds to reach the connection.

  • Sign in with your UTD credentials and authenticate through DUO via a push notification, text message, or phone call.
Note: When entering your UTD credentials- Do not select Enter on your keyboard device. Hitting Enter after entering your username and SSO password will result in the Stale Request error message. Visit KA 1185 for more information.
  • Once connected, the client will display a pop-up message asking you to allow the page to open GlobalProtect.
  • Click on Allow
    • After clicking on Allow, the client displays "Authentication Complete", informing you that you are actively connected to the UT Dallas VPN.
