Question

Why cannot I edit Word documents on my Mac and how do I fix it?

Answer

Fix Edit Issue by following these steps:

  1. Sign out of and quit all Microsoft Office applications.
  2. Open Finder and click the Shift + Command + G keys. In the window that pops up, type the following: "~/Library/Group Containers"
  3. In the next window that pops up select the following three files, delete them, and then empty your trash.
    1. UBF8T346G9.ms
    2. UBF8T346G9.Office
    3. UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost
  4. Restart your Mac, re-launch Word, and sign back in with your NetID@utdallas.edu and password.
  5. You should now be able to edit documents. If not, also ensure that the date and time settings for your system are correctly set up.
