Request an Exchange Shared Mailbox

Context

Multiple users can use an exchange shared mailbox by various users who can read and send email messages from a shared mailbox. Exchange shared mailboxes can also provide a shared calendar, allowing multiple users to schedule and view calendar events.

Submit an eCAT

An eCAT must be submitted to create and add recipients to access an Exchange Shared Mailbox. These eCATs must be requested by staff or faculty. If a student organization wants a shared mailbox created, the request must be submitted by a staff or faculty advisor.

  • Navigate to eCAT and log in with your UTD credentials.

  • Under the System Requests tab, select Create/Update/Remove IT Resources.

  • Select Exchange Shared Mailbox and fill out all the other required information.

  • When you get to Step 4 in the eCAT submission, specify the following in the Additional Information section:
    • An Exchange shared mailbox is needed.
    • Proposed Name of the shared mailbox.
    • Proposed owner of the shared mailbox.
    • An initial set of names/NetIDs that will need access to the Exchange shared mailbox.
