Microsoft Teams Meetings Custom Backgrounds

Purpose

While some backgrounds are available within Microsoft Teams built right in, you may want to upload your images. You can do this within Teams using the instructions below.

Procedure

Upload a Custom Background

Note: The instructions below require that you join a meeting or are already in a meeting. If you want to add a new custom background to your list of backgrounds before a scheduled meeting, go to the Calendar tab in Teams and select Meet now near the top right.
It will allow you to follow the steps below to add the background; after adding the background, you can close the Meet now meeting, and the background you added will be available for you to select for future meetings.

From the Join Screen:

  1. When joining a meeting, toggle your camera on and then select Background filters.

  1. Select + Add new and select the image you would like to use.

  1. Scroll down the list of backgrounds and select your new custom background; you can join your meeting.

In a Meeting:

  1. In a meeting, select the three dots (..., More actions) from the taskbar and select Apply background effects.

  1. Select + Add new and select the image you would like to use.

  1. Scroll down in the list of backgrounds and select your new custom background.
